"Where am I?"
Only inertial navigation is able to answer this question in any point of the Universe autonomously without external data!

The INS & GPS Team is a team of experienced scientists and engineers who have devoted all their creativity to develop autonomous and integrated inertial navigation systems (INS). Our team was formed in the 1970s by Prof. Mikhail Zakharin (1920-2002), ScD.,  who is the founder of the Kiev school of strapdown inertial navigation systems.

INS & GPS Team Main Activities

1. Development of basic technologies (software and hardware), production, calibration, and testing of autonomous and integrated platform/strapdown INSs for various vehicles.
2. Implementation of inertial- and satellite-based technologies in non-traditional areas (railway and road transport, construction, well drilling, pipeline monitoring, estimation of structure remaining life).

INS & GPS Team Field of Interest

  1. Measurement of mechanical movement (linear and angular accelerations, velocities, and position) of various structures and vehicles with inertial methods.
  2. Control systems, technical state checkup, road safety systems, position determination systems based satellite and inertial navigation systems.
  3. High-accuracy strapdown inertial navigation systems (SINS) based on laser and electrostatic gyros.
  4. High-accuracy platform gyrostabilizers and navigation systems based on floated-type and dynamically-tuned gyros.
  5. Autonomous attitude and heading reference systems and integrated INSs based on average-accuracy dynamically-tuned and fiber-optic gyros.
  6. Small-size inertial measurement units and GPS-aided INSs based on low-cost MEMS gyros and accelerometers.
  7. INS integration with other systems, including satellite navigation systems.

The INS & GPS Team has a full set of technologies to develop, produce, calibrate, and test various INS:

  1. Solutions for autonomous and integrated INS system problems.
  2. Autonomous INS software (failure detection, sensor error compensation, moving- and fixed-base alignment, attitude, navigation).
  3. Software for INS integration with various systems, including GPS.
  4. Hardware and software for SINS calibration using low-cost equipment.
  5. Platform INS alignment and calibration software.
  6. Hardware and software for INS laboratory and field testing.
